“Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.”

Kids are important to us – without them we just aren’t whānau – so we have a range of programmes to help our kids grow and develop in God.

On Sunday mornings we have programmes for children up to intermediate age, staffed by wonderful volunteers with a passion for children.

Contact us if you wish to know anything about our kids’ programmes and we would love to put you in touch with the right people to help you and your family.

The name for the overall space is - Puāwai: meaning to blossom, to flourish

The whakataukī that goes alongside and adds to the meaning and heart behind our name is: “Poipoia te kakano, kia puāwai” which translates to: “Nurture the seed and it will blossom.” This will be the overall name of our tamariki space at Northcity Church as it represents the nurturing of our tamariki within the church space and we get to see them grow and blossom into the beautiful people they are over the time they spend in the Puāwai space.

The names that come under this overall name are in age categories:

Tūī Tots: 0-4 year olds (Tūī are associated with being loyal, confident, and content).

The Crèche room is available to you on a Sunday morning catering for children up to four years old.  It is staffed by volunteers.  There is a mixture of free play and brief lessons with related fun activities, which helps to prepare the children for when they move up to Kea Kid's. Parents are welcome to stay around and play too! All children must be signed in and out of Crèche by a caregiver.

Kea Kids: Year 1-5s (Kea are defined as cheeky, cheerful, and curious).

Kea Kids is designed to engage and challenge children across years 1-6, with fun games and activities designed to open up God’s perspective on their lives. With the central focus being God’s Word, there is an excellent and diverse range of topics that are covered every year.

Kākāpо̄: Year 6-8s (Kākāpо̄ are connected to being unique, older, and playful).

Kākāpō is our year 6-8s programme that runs on a Sunday morning in the upstairs part of the church. It is a space for our older tamariki to engage with topics & learnings suited to their age levels whilst connecting with one another and God. Our wonderful youth pastor, Nicole, oversees this programme. Our tamariki value this space and the ways they can connect with God through His word and the different topics covered.

"Kia ora, my names Meg and I am the Tamariki Champion at Northcity Church. I oversee the Sunday morning tamariki programmes. I have been a part of Northcity Church for 9 years, since I began my own Christian journey. I feel blessed to be in this space where God has placed me and it brings me joy to spend my Sunday mornings with the tamariki and rangatahi at Northcity Church. I am also a youth leader in the NCY space and love to see the crossover in relationships between the spaces."
